Alerts

Alert is a component for displaying messages related to events concerning the user’s work in the interface.

Usage guidance

If it is a dismissible alert it should display at the top of the screen overlaid over other content.

All other alerts should display at the top of the content section as close to the section it relates to as possible.

When to use

  • The user needs feedback before or after an action.
  • There is important information the user must review before or after moving to another section of the site, or taking an action.

When not to use

  • Do not use page alerts to simply highlight important content. They are for information that is new, critical, and temporary.
  • Do not put more than one page alert on a page.
